The chairpersons for the 2007 program year is Jonathan Besancon and Katy Clusen. Please contact them if you have an idea you would like the Committee to pursue or if you are interested in joining the Committee. We meet the third Sunday of each month at 1:00pm (change in schedule may occur due to holiday or other major event). Mission Statement: The Religion, Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity Committee: Raises awareness and provides for study, support, discussion and advocacy for Queer people (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersexed, and those for whom a label of sexual orientation or gender identity is not desired). Coordinates our participation in, support of, and liaison with the United Methodist national and Annual Conference Reconciling Ministries Program and other programs in and beyond the church dealing with issues of sexuality and gender identity. Living out the Mission Statement: The Religion, Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity Committee: 1. Invites and welcomes all people in their fullness of sexual orientation and gender identity into the life of Broadway United Methodist Church. 2. Provides forums for education, support, dialogue and advocacy within the Broadway family and into the local community. 3. Celebrates Pride month by offering and joining local Welcoming Church activities and provides a pulpit on Reconciling Sunday for a preacher from the Queer community. 4. Remains in constructive engagement with the United Methodist Denomination through our support of the national and annual conference Reconciling Ministries Networks. 5. Endorses the work of such organizations as the Church Within A Church movement to fully engage the gifts of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, into the life of the Church. 6.
