The Broadway United Methodist Church’s Readers’ Theatre is proud to announce its 2005 performance repertoire. Performing regularly at BUMC since 1997, the BUMC Readers' Theatre is a group of ten readers who perform a variety of stories with some folks doing the narration and others taking the roles of characters in the story. Starting in 2002, the group has taken the show “on the road” to northern Illinois with performances at the Church of the Three Crosses in Chicago, Holy Covenant Parish in Chicago and Northshore UMC in Glencoe, Illinois as well as several performances at Bethany Homes. The coordinator of the BUMC Readers' Theatre is Robb Fanning. He explained the mission of the group: “There is a need to tell the Story and stories from the Bible, history and fiction that communicate and affirm in an original and fresh way the life story and work of Jesus Christ. Biblical, historical and contemporary figures, as well as fictional characters, who emphasize a love and respect of all life and peoples are prime examples where stories may be drawn from to fit the above criteria.” |
